What you do before and after your surgery can have a big impact on how quickly you recover and on your end results. One thing your plastic surgeon may not touch base on during your consultation is lymphatic massages.
Surgery impacts lymphatic flow, and it is extremely important to re-establish lymph flow after surgery to allow for a faster recovery and optimal results. Surgery can and will cause swelling, bruising, edema, scaring, and numbness to the treated areas.
Therapeutic ultrasound is a high intensity ultrasound that helps to reduce swelling and prevent fibrosis.
RF therapy helps to prevent or breadown any existing scar tissue that may form from the liquids accumulated after surgery.
An accoustic shockwave is a soundwave that carries energy and penetrates scar tissue.
This is a form of radial extracorporeal shockwave therapy.
Our signature Brazilian Body Sculpt is one of a kind and when combined with other therapies is the icing on the cake when it comes to optimizing your plastic surgery results! We have put together several techniques which will give you the definition in your treated areas!
Collagen is a protein that gives structure to our bodies which gives structure to our skin and the underlying fascia.
Collagen production starts to slow down after the age of 35 which can cause the skin's elasticity to not be able to recover after having liposuction, pregnancy, weight loss, or bariatric surgery.
Skin tightening after receiving liposuction can help maximize your results in many ways:
Typcially 6-10 sessions are required to optimize your results.

We recommend that you receive 1-2 Lymphatic Massages prior to your surgery from a licensed massage therapist. This will help to clear out any toxins in your body and will aid in a faster recovery.
The cosmetic procedure/s you undergo will overload your lymphatic system with things such as toxic waste from surgery, lymph fluid, & biological byproduct. If you prep your lymphatic system ahead of time, your lymphatic system will have less backup, thus allowing for a faster recovery.
Those individuals who receive lymphatic massages before surgery have less swelling, have their drains taken out sooner, and have an overall better outcome!
It is extremely important that you continue to see your Licensed Lymphatic Massage Therapist after your cosmetic surgery.
Surgeons often recommend that their patients ideally receive massages as little as three days post-op. The reason behind this is that lymphatic drainage can help prevent the buildup of fluid which forms scar tissue and fibrosis.
Following surgery, it is important to receive 2-6 lymphatic drainage massages before moving on to the next part of your recovery journey with us here at Hourglass Body Aesthetics, which will consist of Ultrasound or Shockwave Therapy, Post-Op Body Sculpts, Radiofrequency or Ultrasound Cavitation.
Many of the clients that we have treated here at Hourglass Body Aesthetics, have referred their patients to start their recovery journey anywhere from 3-6 weeks
post-op by receiving services such as ultrasound therapy, radiofrequency, lymphatic body sculpts, and eventually ultrasound cavitation.
Here at Hourglass Body Aesthetics, we have found that the patients that were referred to start their plastic surgery aftercare at the 3-week mark, have a faster recovery and see the results of their surgery much sooner. By starting your aftercare therapy at the week mark, this allows us to help reduce the swelling & edema you will experience which also will improve your bruising.
Everyone's plastic surgery aftercare plan will vary based on several factors:
Everyone needs a minimum of 10 sessions, and we have seen some clients that have needed up to 15 because they did not start their aftercare treatments until they were 6 weeks plus post-op. We have noticed that clients who do not start their aftercare until 6 weeks post-op, experience hardened skin, severe swelling & edema, as well as fibrosis.
